A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública is the newest member of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), one of the most important international higher education networks in the Americas, marking the 10th anniversary of the Center for Institutional Relations and Internationalization (REI). Composed of more than 400 members, including higher education institutions, research centers, and university associations, the IOHE connects representatives from 28 countries, divided into nine geographic regions: Central America, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, Colombia, the Southern Cone, the United States, Mexico, and the Andean countries. "The entry of BAHIANA This network will enhance opportunities for academic exchange and professional development, whether in teaching, research, or outreach. This is a promising opportunity for expanding mobility opportunities for our students, through new partnerships with IOUI member universities and Bahiana will have the opportunity to share with new partners the opportunities that already exist for visiting students published on our website", highlights Professor Antonieta Araújo, coordinator of REAI.
Membership provides access to various initiatives that promote development and international cooperation in higher education. Key benefits include access to eMOVIES (Virtual Space for Mobility in Higher Education), a platform that enables virtual academic mobility among member institutions, fostering the exchange of knowledge and experiences in an accessible and global manner; the Educational Offer, with a diverse program of courses, training, and events, with special conditions for IOUI members; and the Scholarship Program, offering scholarship opportunities for participation in international activities and training. The agreement also includes specialized consulting, with personalized support for developing institutional internationalization strategies, as well as access to collaborative classes, enabling joint academic projects with partner institutions, fostering interdisciplinarity and cultural exchange.
"The internationalization path of BahianaWith the creation of REAI, we follow the logic not only of establishing partnerships and fostering integrated projects, but also of improving internal workflows through cross-departmental integration, ensuring quality service for inbound and outbound exchange students. We work with a well-integrated team of mobility analysts and administrators, and the recently created Faculty Exchange Committee (CDI) is another initiative that will support this expansion," emphasizes Antonieta Araújo.
