Bahiana is present at PopCiência

A Bahiana was one of the leaders present at the launch of the Scientific Education and Promotion of Science for Youth Project, PopCiência Jovem, which took place on May 19th, at the State University of Bahia – UNEB. The institution was represented by its Pro-Rector of Research, Innovation and Stricto Sensu Graduate Studies, Prof. Dr. Atson Fernandes. Also present were the State Governor, Jerônimo Rodrigues, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Luciana Santos, and the State Secretaries, as well as students and researchers.

PopCiência Jovem will bring together, in a coordinated manner between the Secretariats of Education (SEC) and Science and Technology (SECTI), transdisciplinary initiatives aimed at the scientific education of Bahian youth. Activities are planned, such as holding scientific events in schools and territories of identity, the creation of the Bahia Faz Ciência Network and the formation of a collective of Young Territorial Ambassadors of Science. In addition, there will be support for teacher training and encouragement for the creation of public notices and institutional partnerships aimed at popularizing science.

"A Bahiana remains committed to actions that promote science, education and the future of Bahian youth", highlighted Atson Fernandes. Today, Bahiana has its own Scientific and Technological Initiation Program (PIBICT) for undergraduate students who wish to enter the research field and develop scientific thinking, in addition to PIBICT Júnior, a program aimed at high school students and which aims to awaken scientific vocation and encourage potential talents.
