Contemporary challenges posed by new technologies are discussed in the inaugural class of the Psychology course

"Psychology in the digital age: ethics and social commitment". The theme chosen for the inaugural lecture of the Psychology course at Bahiana, held on March 14th, at Campus Brotas, allowed first-semester students to have their first contact with the purpose and mission of their profession, against the backdrop of contemporary challenges imposed by new technologies. To discuss the subject, the course coordinator, Professor Sylvia Barreto, mediated the thematic panel that included the participation of former student and current professor at the institution Fernanda Assemany and the representative of the Guidance and Monitoring Committee of the Bahia Regional Psychology Council (CRP-BA), Antônio Rogério Greenhalgh.

In addition to addressing the contemporary challenges imposed on the profession, Professor Fernanda also shared her journey as a student at Bahiana, her continuing education process at the institution's Psychology Clinic, and her arrival in teaching. According to her, some factors influenced her choice for Bahiana, such as the curriculum, the faculty and the provision of a boarding school. "What made me choose Bahiana "It was precisely this opportunity to have contact with the practice of our profession from the very beginning of the course. I love this institution, the welcome we receive here, the moments of discussion..., because it was here that I began to have a more political (non-partisan) outlook, understanding that our work is political, especially us, psychologists", declared the professor.

In his speech, Antônio Rogério Greenhalgh prioritized both the CRP's attributions and ethical points to which future professionals should be aware when performing their activities. "We must always be close to graduation, already answering questions and talking about professional issues.
