"Lift your head, put your foot down and go with faith / Send this sadness away / Just believe that a new day will dawn / Your time will come!". The verses of the song "Tá Escrito", by the composer from Rio de Janeiro Xande de Pilares, performed by the academics Franklin Oliveira Carneiro and Tuffy Alex Rosa Silva Mamede, at the opening of the inaugural class of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program of Bahiana, which took place on the morning of February 14th, at the Cabula Campus, served as a motto for the reception of new students of the institution's Master's and Doctorate courses. With Auditorium II packed, the meeting was attended by the Pro-Rector of Research, Innovation and Stricto Sensu Graduate Studies, Prof. Atson Fernandes, and the Pro-Rector of Undergraduate and Lato Sensu Graduate Studies, Prof. Maria de Lourdes Gomes, on the occasion representing the Rector of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, as well as guests Isabel Sartori (SECTI) and Maria Claudina Gomes de Miranda (FAPESB) and coordinators and professors linked to the programs.
"At Bahiana, science cannot be done without art. This represents our Stricto Sensu postgraduate program, whose purpose is to train people qualified for professional life, that is, we do not train masters and doctors to work only in academia, but to be better entrepreneurs, better public or private managers, because Brazil lacks qualified people so that we can advance on all fronts, in order to promote the development of our society", Professor Atson Fernandes pointed out in his speech.
The program revolved around the discussion "The Role of Postgraduate Studies Bahiana in My Professional Trajectory", with the participation of the winners of the Best Dissertation and Best Thesis Awards (2024), Ma. Ng Kin Key (Master's in Medicine and Human Health), Me Robson Santos Santana (Professional Master's in Health Technologies), Me Ademar Rocha da Silva (Professional Master's in Psychology and Health Interventions) and Dr. Alisson de Aquino Firmino (Doctorate in Medicine and Human Health). On the occasion, the panel members presented their trajectories, the studies carried out and the gains and benefits in their respective careers, after completing the courses. Afterwards, the chat featured interventions by professors, such as Dr. Bernardo Galvão, Dr. Mônica Daltro and Dr. Cristiane Dias.
