The coordinator of the Master's and Doctorate Program in Medicine and Human Health at Bahiana, Ana Marice Ladeia, launched, last Friday (22/11), at Campus Brotas, her newest book, "I Was Born Odara". Half of the proceeds raised from the book's launch were used to purchase medication for the institution's Transgender Outpatient Clinic. “In all my books, I seek to develop a social action. In this one, in addition to the proceeds raised for our Transgender Outpatient Clinic, the approach to the topic itself is already a way of combating prejudice”, says the professor at Bahiana.

The outpatient clinic for trans people is made up of a multidisciplinary team formed by endocrinologist Marcia Sampaio, psychologist Carle Porcino, nurse Jaddy Matheus, and also has the support of Social Services. The outpatient clinic is a place of welcome and respect, where trans people are monitored by the Unified Health System (SUS). The service works by appointment via WhatsApp 71 98340-1978.

Book “I was born Odara”

More than a story, “I Was Born Odara” explores different forms of love — maternal, erotic and personal — amid resistance and the affirmation of existences that are often silenced. According to Ana Marice, “telling stories is a form of healing and coping, both for the speaker and for the listener (and writer).” The book can be purchased at Amazon platform, both in physical format and as an e-book. For those who wish to purchase the autographed publication, they can request it directly from the author, who will send it free of charge to any location in Brazil (Instagram contact: @anamariceladeia).
