Celebrating Biomedical Scientists' Day, the 22nd anniversary of the Biomedicine course, giving greater visibility to the profession and promoting greater integration among students. These were the objectives of the meeting held on November 22nd at the Cabula Campus, which brought together students, alumni, professors and Biomedicine professionals for a special program. "We overcame many obstacles to be here today. It is the commitment of our students and professors to society and to biomedicine that makes our course a reference throughout Brazil", stated the course coordinator, Professor Geraldo Argolo, in his opening speech at the event.

The program began with a lecture entitled "The Role of Biomedical Scientists in Epidemiological Surveillance," given by former student Prof. Dr. Filipe Rego, who is a faculty member of the course. This was followed by a roundtable discussion entitled "The Path of Stones," with the participation of former students who shared their professional trajectories. "The choice of themes to celebrate Biomedical Scientist Day was based on market demand. All diagnosis and treatment in healthcare has been guided by genetics. Bioinformatics is growing a lot, which is why we brought Professor Filipe, now a researcher at Fiocruz, who is a key figure in Brazil in this very important area, especially in viral surveillance," highlighted the event coordinator, Professor Vanessa Brito.

Sofia Lírio Santos Silva, an 8th semester student and member of the course's Academic Board, also highlighted the choice of themes as a demand from students and the inclusion of a more diversified program, with services in Integrative and Complementary Health Practices (PICS) and sports activities, with the aim of strengthening interaction within the academic community.
