The coordinator and vice-coordinator of the Professional Master's Degree in Health Technologies, Prof. Marcos Almeida and Prof. Cristiane Dias, and Professor Cristina Salles, leader of the International Center of Clinical Sleep Medicine and Research Research Group and professor of the Master's and Doctorate course in Medicine and Human Health at Bahiana, received, on November 21st, a technical visit from professor and PhD researcher Kristen N. Difilippo, from the Interdisciplinary Health Education Program at the University of Illinois, to the facilities of Bahiana Cheers.

The meeting was the Pre-Symposium on Innovations in Health and Technology, an opportunity for discussion and sharing of experiences, as well as opening doors for future international collaborations. Each of the researchers present presented projects focused on the use of health technologies and education for the management of chronic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease, in the context of nutrition. The visiting researcher was accompanied by her student, Rafael Guimarães, who is a doctoral student at the University of Illinois, who graduated from the Master's in Health Technologies at the University of Illinois. Bahiana.

Earlier this year, Rafael carried out part of his field research at the Teaching-Care Outpatient Clinic of Bahiana Health. "I am very impressed with the relationship between education and health services provided to the community and to people who need these services," said Difilippo after visiting the Neuroscience Center, where she learned about the care provided to people with HTLV and the Community Outpatient Clinic. She also showed great interest in the research done on food security, the subject of the work developed by her student. "We conducted our research this year, over the course of three months, in partnership with Bahiana. We seek to understand how patients with food insecurity use technology management with apps and cell phones to manage chronic diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension", explained the doctoral student. On Friday (22/11), the researchers presented the progress of the study during the Symposium on Innovations in Health and Technology, which took place on Campus Brotas.
