Physiotherapy student presents paper at the 54th Annual Meeting of the International Continence Society – ICS

A 6th semester Physiotherapy student at Bahiana Laryssa Amaral presented the paper "Experience report on how the reception and treatment of patients with erectile dysfunction occurs at the Instituto Patrícia Lordelo – IPL, located in the city of Salvador, Bahia", at the 54th Annual Meeting of the International Continence Society – ICS, in Madrid, Spain. The ICS took place between October 23 and 25, 2024. 

The academic is part of the research group Centro de Atenção ao Assoalho Pelvico (CAAP), led by Professor Dr. Patrícia Lordelo, who is also Laryssa's supervisor. "I think that participating in conferences is essential for training as a physiotherapist, as they serve as another tool/instrument for learning and training, where I can broaden my horizons, beyond the classroom/college and books, as well as keep myself updated on new discoveries in the area", highlights Laryssa.

According to the student who intends to pursue a career as a researcher, the health field, especially physiotherapy, is always changing, and the conferences provide constant updates on new research, technologies, and innovations in the field. "In addition, I think it is a good opportunity to meet other professionals, network, and exchange experiences, establish partnerships and collaborations, create new projects and research, and even job opportunities," says the academic.
