Services with Integrative and Complementary Health Practices, music, poetry and dance presentations, qi gong experiences, rappelling, playful activities, workshops and a solidarity economy fair were paths that the 24th Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana (MCC) found the theme for this year's event: "The Multidimensionality of Health Care". Throughout the days of October 18 (Friday) and 19 (Saturday), all the spaces of the Cabula Campus were filled with students and teachers who welcomed 22 partner communities. "Today we are here, debuting with the Affinity Groups Tent, promoted by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) committee, talking about current issues that, together with the Popular Education in Health tent and the Cultural tent, promote a great dialogue between science and the population", highlights the coordinator of People Development at the Bahiana, Professor Luiza Ribeiro.
Throughout Friday, the traditional MCC Cultural Tent hosted performances by the Indocentes band, made up of professors from the Psychology course, the percussion band from the Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) in the Pernambués neighborhood, the Neojiba Choir, a dance performance by elderly women from Mansão do Caminho, and occasional musical performances by students, professors, and visitors. "Art moves us and helps us balance ourselves. We talk about mind, body, and spirit, and this is also involved with art. So it is super important to motivate people and strengthen local art. And today, we have several ways of making art here," says Maiara dos Santos Soares, an 8th semester Psychology student who sang in the tent.
Throughout the day, groups of children, teenagers and seniors also interacted with the exhibit's activities, promoting a rich and mutual learning experience. "It was wonderful to welcome these seniors, because it was welcoming. We were touched by our feelings and our joys, and they were touched by them. I think that the multidimensionality that is the theme provides this possibility of contact with them," says Andrezza di Paula, a 7th semester Psychology student. For the coordinator of Armazém do Campo, linked to the Landless Workers' Movement (MST), Andréa de Menezes Albuquerque, this was a great opportunity: "We are here today to bring to society our work as MST, people from family farming, and the products of the land." Also present at the MCC were high school students from public schools, children of employees and elderly women from the Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) in the Pau da Lima neighborhood, who participated in artistic activities and workshops. "We reach a certain age and think that we will no longer learn anything good. That's the secret: it all depends on us! So, each day is a learning experience. At least tonight I will go to bed with a lot of good things in my mind," commented Marlene Araújo Lima, a member of the group, after participating in the composting workshop.
