The 24th Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana was once again the stage for the presentation of scientific productions through the 9th Extension Exhibition and the 22nd Scientific and Technological Initiation Conference (PIBICT). This year, the Extension Exhibition innovated with the adoption of the experience report modality that, alongside panel presentations and oral communication, brought together 484 works presented on October 19, at the Cabula Campus. In turn, the 22nd Scientific and Technological Initiation Conference had the presentation of 330 works.

According to the Dean of Extension of the Bahiana and general coordinator of the MCC, Prof. Carolina Pedroza, the inclusion of the Experience Report modality closely dialogues with the theme chosen for this year's MCC, "Multidimensionality of Health Care". "The Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana innovated with experience reports so that our students can reflect on what they are experiencing in the field. Not only from a scientific perspective, but also from a critical-reflexive perspective, which is also a provocation to think about health work not only from a formal scientific perspective.”

22nd Scientific and Technological Initiation Conference (PIBICT)

Still in the field of presentation of works, the 24th Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of Bahiana comprised the 22nd Scientific and Technological Initiation Conference (PIBICT) with works by students from all undergraduate courses at the institution, bringing together scholarship holders from Fundação Maria Emília, FAPESB, Cardiopulmonar, CNPq and Bahiana, who presented their work on October 18. For Ana Luísa Vaz Valois, a 10th semester medical student and author of the work "Metabolomics of serum in adults with sickle cell anemia using and not using hydroxyurea: consolidating prognostic indicators of vascular complications", supervised by Professor Ana Marice Ladeia, the perspective of a health professional is different when he or she conducts research. "I grew a lot during the scientific initiation process. From perceiving the scientific evidence to understanding what was happening behind the article I was reading. Understanding how the tests work, how they are applied. I see a lot of difference, from when I started, two years ago, to today. This helps to better understand how the process works with the patient. It gives more critical and scientific thinking and allows for more personalized care with the patient", says the student.
