Bahiana For One Day welcomes CETEB, Oficina and Mendel schools

"I had never had an experience within a university and, certainly, this visit here today confirms and defines my choice to become a doctor, because it is a contact with practice, with the campus, instruments and professionals. It is very important to have been here." The report is from Sandro Gabriel da Silva Batista, a 3rd year high school student at CETEB school in Feira de Santana, who participated, on August 7, in another edition of Bahiana For one day, at the Cabula Campus. The program is an initiative of the Customer Relationship Center of Bahiana (Relaci) and aims to support the professional guidance work of high schools, providing students with information about undergraduate courses and contact with the academic environment of the institution. Throughout the month of August, the Bahiana For one day also received students from Colégio Oficina and Mendel de Vilas do Atlântico.

For the school principal and teacher of Education for Work, Claudenir Machado, the visit helps in defining the choice of a profession. "We always put this visit on our calendar, because we know that the institution welcomes these students with pleasure. There is a practical demonstration of the work here and this consolidates what they have already decided and also opens the possibility for assertive choices at this time when they are finishing high school. So it is a fantastic visit. We know that, in order to find their way in the world, professionals go through self-knowledge and the search for information and they do not always have such precise and concrete information, as we saw here, given by specialists, in addition to being able to have contact with the practices of each course", he states.

During the visits, participants take an academic tour, where they can experience a little of the day-to-day life of the institution's students. Thus, they can learn about the routine of the Dental Center, the Sports Science Laboratory, the Microscopy Laboratory, in addition to having experiences with the Physiotherapy, Psychology, Nursing and Medicine courses.
