Physiotherapy students, teachers and professionals were together during the XII Research Journey in Physiotherapy at Bahiana which took place on the 29th and 30th of September, on the Cabula campus. With the theme, "Physiotherapy & Artificial Intelligence: present or future?", the event addressed new digital technologies associated with both teaching and research and extension within the scope of training new physiotherapists.
The opening table had as its theme “Technologies and Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Research”. Remotely and live, the guest speakers presented their respective topics. Dr. Bianca Mirand spoke about the "Metaverse as a teaching tool"; “Playfisio”, about the use of games as a learning tool, was the topic presented by Dr. Leilane Marcos, and “Simulation to train communication skills using AI”, was the topic taught by Dr. Anamaria Siriani. The panel included the participation of professors Dr. Cristiane Dias and Dr. Ana Paula Carneiro as debaters.
The program also included oral presentations of student work and the lecture, “Transforming Rehabilitation – The Convergence between Physiotherapy and Artificial Intelligence”, given by Dr. Francisco Oliveira. On the second day of the journey, workshops were held within the theme of the event.
"Health technology is increasingly expanding horizons. When we stop to analyze technology, what is buzzing the most is artificial intelligence. We also think from the student's point of view, because they are curious about artificial intelligence", explained the event's co-organizer, Prof. Maria Consuelo Nuñez Filha, about the choice of theme. According to the co-organizer, prof. Bruno Goes, "we are here precisely to discover and share among teachers and students what benefits we can extract to have another tool as teachers. We, as modern teachers, have to be aware of the innovations that happen in the world, mainly about artificial intelligence is a reality, and it is up to us to train ourselves to use it in the best possible way."
