Neuroscience Research Group holds preceptorship for neurologist

The activity took place at the Ambulatory of Neuromuscular Diseases of Bahiana Cheers.

Medicine course professor Marcela Câmara Machado Costa, leader of the Neurosciences Research Group, and Nursing professors Marilaine Menezes and Physiotherapy professors Cristiane Dias coordinated the preceptorship "Clinical management of patients with familial myloidotic polyneuropathy" which took place on March 31 , at the Neuromuscular Diseases Ambulatory of Bahiana Health.

Held in partnership with PTC – Indústria Farmacêutica, the preceptorship aimed to train neurologists, neurophysiologists and general practitioners who work in the care of patients with familial amyloid polyneuropathy (ATTRv), addressing aspects of diagnosis, treatment management and disease progression in patients with ATTRv amyloidosis. On the occasion, the Manual of Multidisciplinary Conduct for Patients with Amyloidosis, also prepared by the Neuroscience Research Group, was also presented.

10 neurologists from cities in Bahia and other states in the Northeast participated in the event. The preceptorship took place through a theoretical-practical immersion, in which the clinical experiences of the team at the Ambulatory of Neuromuscular Diseases of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública with practical evaluation of real clinical cases and performance of electroneuromyography in patients with ATTRv amyloidosis.
