A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública was honored in a Special Session of the Academia de Medicina da Bahia, for the passage of its 70 years of history. The ceremony took place virtually via the Zoom platform on the night of December 12. On the occasion, the dean of Bahiana, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, held a lecture to present the main actions of the institution in recent years, such as the stricto sensu postgraduate courses, winning the GPTW Award for the best institution to work for in Bahia and the 19th place in the award in terms of national level, in addition to initiatives in the field of teaching-assistance in health.
The session was attended by the president of AMB, Dr. Antônio Carlos Vieira Lopes, recently appointed director of the Foundation Bahiana for the Development of Sciences, the entity that maintains the Bahiana, and the vice-president of the entity, professor of Bahiana and coordinator of the Nucleus of Neurosciences and the HTLV Center of Bahiana, Dr. Bernardo Galvão Castro Filho, in addition to coordinators of undergraduate and graduate courses at the institution, professors and collaborators.
"A school is, in essence, a place where students and teachers are at the center of teaching and learning actions. They are the very reason for its existence. Taking care of the teacher-student relationship guarantees the quality of the training offered. fundamental for the objectives to be reached", emphasized, in her presentation, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, pointing out that today the institution has more than 17 professionals trained over its 70 years of history.
