teacher of Bahiana elected full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences

the teacher of Bahiana and Fiocruz researcher Dr. Bernardo Galvão Castro Filho is the newest immortal titular member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. The announcement was made by the board of ABC, after the Ordinary General Meeting held on December 1, 2022. In addition to the full members, the names of correspondents and affiliates, elected by vote at the meeting, were also disclosed.

“I feel honored to have been elected a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. For me, it means the recognition, by my peers, of a career dedicated to Health Sciences. About 30 years ago I was welcomed by the Bahiana, enabling me to continue working in care, teaching and research. The cordial and friendly coexistence encourages me to continue fighting for a fairer and more equitable country, contributing, through SUS, to improve the health and quality of life of people living with HTLV”, celebrated the newest member of the ABC.

All those elected take office on January 1, 2023. Full members and correspondents will receive their diplomas on May 10, 2023, during the ABC Magna Meeting. Affiliate members will have their graduation ceremonies associated with scientific symposiums in each region, for them to present their research, on dates to be scheduled in the future. doctor Bernardo Galvão was the only one elected for the Health Sciences area. New members were also announced for the areas of Biological, Biomedical, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Earth, Agrarian, Engineering and Social Sciences, coming from higher education and research institutions such as Unicamp, USP, UNB, UFPR, UFRJ, MPEG and UFRGS.
