Bahiana holds a lecture about the plurality of understandings about health determinants

The event marked the beginning of the partnership with the Maria Emília Pedreira Freire de Carvalho Foundation (FME).

A morning for the applicability of science with solidarity and in a responsible way. This was the meeting "Plural Views on Health Determinants", which took place last Friday, May 27, at Campus Brotas. The program featured speeches by professors Dr. Luís Cláudio Correia, coordinator of the Center for Evidence-Based Medicine at Bahiana, and Professor Dr. Mônica Daltro, coordinator of the Master's Program in Psychologies and Health Interventions. The activity, which took place in a hybrid format (in person and online, via the Zoom platform) was carried out by the Dean of Research, Innovation and Stricto Sensu Graduate Studies at Bahiana.

The occasion also formalized the partnership with the Maria Emília Pedreira Freire de Carvalho Foundation (FME), a non-profit entity whose mission is to foster, generate and disseminate knowledge and education and health technologies with social impact. The entity was represented by its executive manager, Thamile Accioly. next to Bahiana, the FME will promote a project at an international level, to finance Master's scholarships in public health and scientific research.

Among the main ones that make up the health indicators, the doctor and professor of Bahiana Luís Cláudio Correia brought to those present the indicator that medical care with health makes up a rate of 30% and that the others are biopsychosocial determinants ranging from economic class to race and skin color. In turn, Mônica Daltro drew attention to the breach of the civilizing pact as the elements that make up a society are increasingly individualistic, in a system that encourages competitiveness. "In the construction of a civilizing pact, we need to give, a little, space to the other, so that the collective is preserved", she declared in her speech.
