A Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública received, for the 10th time, the Socially Responsible Institution Seal, now valid for 2020/2021. The certification recognizes the School as an institution committed to social and environmental responsibility, due to its actions developed through extension programs linked to research and teaching. The seal is issued by the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Supporters (ABMES) and aims to demonstrate the social commitment of private higher education institutions in the country.

Over its 68 years, the Bahiana has been developing several initiatives that aim both to benefit those who need it most and also to develop scientific research aimed at strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS). According to the dean of the institution, Dr. Maria Luisa Carvalho Soliani, this social responsibility is expressed throughout the work of the Bahiana, starting with the institution's commitment to training professionals with a humanistic vision.

Among the extension programs developed by Bahiana highlights include “Zero Cárie”, “First Aid for All”, “Bahianescer”, “Feira Cuidar Faz Bem”, “Day of Delivery”, “ParaPraia”, “Fórum Caju”, “Complexo Vida Plena”, “Candeal Project " and "Bahiana Green". THE Bahiana it also develops actions in partnership with public entities such as OSBA and NEOJIBA.
