Works developed by medical students from Bahiana receive Professor Nelson Barros 2022 award

The researches were carried out at the Center for Voiding Disorders in Childhood of Bahiana CEDIMI

The works developed by the medical students of the Bahiana Samuel Gomes Cardoso and Leonardo Azevedo de Souza, through the Center for Voiding Disorders in Childhood of Bahiana – CEDIMI, received the award Professor Nelson Barros 2020. The award was promoted by the Bahia Society of Pediatrics – SOBAPE with the aim of highlighting the performances of medical students and pediatric residents from various areas. 

The research was guided by professors Dr. Ubirajara Barroso, Dr. Glícia Abreu, Dr. Ana Aparecida Braga, Dr. Maria Luiza Veiga and the CEDIMI team. The Center, which is coordinated by Professor Ubirajara Barroso, is a national reference in the area, being the first in Bahia to specialize in the treatment of urinary disorders in childhood.

Student Samuel Cardoso, together with the CEDIMI psychology team, developed the study “Analysis of the association of clinical and sociodemographic factors between the different presentations of overactive bladder in children and adolescents”, and received first place in the Professor Nelson Barros 2020 award The work carried out by the medical student Leonardo de Souza, entitled “Assessment of uroflowmetry in pediatric patients with vesicointestinal dysfunction undergoing parasacral electrical stimulation (tens): randomized clinical trial” was awarded third place.
