NEAD lecture cycle discusses health information

Edition will have professor Renato Sabbatini as speaker.

The edition of the lecture cycle of the Distance Learning Nucleus of Bahiana (NEAD) will have Professor Renato Sabbatini as speaker of the month, who will deliver the lecture "The importance of Health Information", on November 12th, at 20h. The lecture will not only address the application of new technologies in the health area, but will also explain the individual records of demographic, personal and health information, which are absolutely necessary for clinical practice. These are the Health Records Systems, the S-RES, which are electronically stored data.

Among the aspects to be highlighted by the speaker are: the format and standards of information representation, such as the specific terminologies for each area: CID, NANDA, CIPE, LOINC, SNOMED CT etc.; databases and software; structured data; the relevant aspects of ethics and the profession; the legislation that regulates the sector, including the General Personal Data Protection Law; secondary or derivative applications, such as epidemiology and population health; the data needed for artificial intelligence and machine learning applications; exchange or interoperability. At the time, hyperintensive data (big data) and their role in future health will also be discussed.

Speaker

Renato Marcos Endrizzi Sabbatini graduated in Biomedical Sciences (1968) and Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics (1977), from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo (USP). He is a postdoctoral fellow at the Max-Planck Institute of Psychiatry, Munich, Germany (1977-1979) and assistant professor at the Physiology Department of the USP Ribeirão Preto Medical School (1972-1983), where he began his line of research and development in Biomedical Informatics, in 1972, in the service of computing in physiology. Furthermore, he is an associate professor at the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the State University of Campinas (1983-2003), where he was also a professor and associate researcher at the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (Department of Biomedical Engineering). He is founder and director of the Biomedical Informatics Nucleus at UNICAMP and coordinator of the Medical Informatics and Biostatistics Area at FCM/UNICAMP (1983-2003). He is founder (1986) and former president of the Brazilian Society of Health Informatics (1988-1990), of which he was also director of Education and Professional Training, and is currently director of the Professional Talents in Health Informatics Orientation Program Former IT director of the Associação Médica Brasileira, Renato Sabbatini is founder and president of the Edumed Institute for Education in Medicine and Health and coordinator of the International Center for Information and Communication Technologies in Health (from 2000 to date). He is also founder (2009), vice president and director of Education and Professional Training at Instituto HL7 Brasil, vice president, as well as member and founder of Associação IHE Brasil – Integrating the Health Enterprise (2014-2018). He has been a founding fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics since 2017. He is currently adjunct professor of Health Informatics at the School Bahiana of Medicine, the Brazilian Institute of Medical Sciences and several other institutions. In addition, it develops projects in telehealth, since 1985, and in distance education in health, since 1999.
