In honor of Psychologist's Day, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública performed the II Psychology Conference, on August 27, from 8 am to 12:30 pm, in Pavilion III of Campus Cabula. The event, whose theme was Training in Psychology, was coordinated by Professor Sylvia Maria Barreto, coordinator of the Psychology course at Bahiana. The professor and manager of the Psychology Clinic at Bahiana Health, Myla Arouca, the pedagogical supervisor Ruth Aragão, the students of the Psychology course at Bahiana Legisvane Ribeiro, Laís Becker, Jamile Dórea, Regina Alves, Indiara Rocha, Amanda Leão, Millen Carvalho, Lucas Cardoso, Ricardo Lopes and graduates Nathalia Sá and Fernando Lopes also participated in the organizing committee of the initiative.

Upon entering auditorium I to witness the opening of the day, the public was faced with low lights, chairs distributed in a non-linear way, exhibitions of mannequins and artistic decoration. The objective, according to the organization, was to introduce the concept of pattern breaking in academic training. Then, the audience watched a video monologue by the student Millen Carvalho, referring to the political, social and economic context of Brazil. After showing the video, the students actively participated in the Collective Reflections on Education in Psychology, mediated by Professor Anna Amélia Faria. The explanations were led by the students present in the auditorium.

After the break, the conversation circles were distributed across classrooms, and each topic was separated by colored ribbons that were given to the participants during accreditation. The theme “Contemporary Suffering”, coordinated by Mônica Veras, was identified with the color blue; the yellow ribbons were destined to the subject “Care Networks”, coordinated by Débora Ferraz; “Curriculum and Training: what is in question”, coordinated by Liliane Teles, was colored red; and for “Political Responsibility and Ethics”, coordinated by Veridiana Machado, the green ribbon was awarded. After the discussions in the conversation circles, the students met again in auditorium I to reflect, in a summarized way, on the mentioned contents. The event ended with a musical presentation by student Gabriel Falcão.

The coordinator of the journey, Sylvia Maria Barreto, explains that the second edition was focused on training in psychology because “the academic community, including students and teachers, is being challenged to rethink this, in order to create spaces in the context of the sociopolitical-economic of the country”. The professor emphasizes that the current period, of elections for federal and regional councils, provides a moment of fragmentation in Psychology, "therefore, it is necessary to think, in a contextualized and responsible way, about the role that academic training plays".

Myla Arouca shows that, when the action was planned, it was necessary to think about the current scenario. “We are at a time of great disorder and deconstruction and we need to position ourselves before the prospect of reviewing our curriculum”, explains the professor, who was also a speaker on the journey.

The invited speaker, psychoanalyst and founder of the NAPSI Institute – Psychological Care Center, Mônica Veras, reveals that she was very happy with the invitation and that, regarding the topic, she understands that, in this way, the Bahiana shows that he cares about the student's education. “Treating contemporary psychic suffering is a psychologist's task. We cannot decontextualize ourselves from the current world, from the liquid and disconnected relationships that contribute to a series of modern psychic suffering”, completes the psychoanalyst.

Faced with the topics addressed, the 8th semester Psychology student Beatriz Navarro points out that the discussions outside the classroom, on the formation of the psychologist, were essential. She also emphasizes that she participated in the event in the previous edition, in Brotas, and noticed the growth and maturation of the journey.
