Aesthetics of Smiles is the theme of the second stage of preparation for the XVIII JOBA
The event had as a guest speaker Dr. André Machado and attracted a large audience.

The second moment of the 2019 Pre-JOBA, which took place on April 24, from 18:20 pm to 10:60 pm, in Auditorium I of Campus Cabula, had as its theme “The Aesthetics of Smiles”. The guest speaker was Dr. André Machado, adjunct professor of the discipline of Orthodontics at FO-UFBA. André addressed successful cases and presented the protocol of the XNUMX Commandments of Aesthetics of Smile, a study carried out by him, which became the most downloaded article in the Dental Press Journal of Orthodontics and Facial Orthopedics, the main journal in the area in Brazil, with more of XNUMX thousand downloads.
The speaker explained how the smile influences the way people are socially perceived: "We carried out a study in which the result obtained was that photographs of people with ideal dental esthetics were, on average, better evaluated in terms of intelligence and possibility of getting a job”.
André also evaluated the experience of being invited to the occasion as very positive, “because the future of Dentistry is in the hands of the students who will be the next opinion makers”. As for JOBA, the doctor highlighted the importance of the event, which celebrates its 18th anniversary: “The solidity of the event and the institution makes me honored to know that I was remembered by this house. It is a great pleasure to talk about one of the most relevant topics in Dentistry, which covers all areas of the profession. Rewarding to see such an interested class and a full auditorium. All in search of knowledge”.
Fernando Bastos, teaching coordinator of the XVIII JOBA, highlights that the events that precede the Dentistry Day of Bahiana are quite relevant as they encompass a demand for quality technical and scientific information, focusing on current and general interest topics. Professor André Machado was chosen because he has “complete mastery of the subject, in addition to several publications and lectures held around the world”.
The third semester student of the Dentistry course at Uninassau, Viviane Santos Vieira, was also present at the 2nd Pre-Joba and highlighted that the moment was extremely productive: “My expectations for the 18th JOBA are already the best”.

XVIII Day of Dentistry of Bahiana
“JOBA coming of age: Science, Technology and Ethics” is the theme of the XVIII Dentistry Day of Bahiana. The event, which innovates with each edition, will be held on May 16th and 17th in conjunction with two other satellite events: the 3rd Oral Rehabilitation Meeting and the 1st Orthodontics Meeting. The initiative is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students in dentistry and dentists.
Coordinated by Professor Dr. Fernando Bastos Júnior and student Welington dos Santos Júnior, the JOBA will take place at Campus Cabula, with a workload of 16 hours. Applications will run until May 12th. To register and check the event schedule, go to Registration Center Bahiana.
