"Our result comes from a relationship of trust that, increasingly, is being strengthened and becoming a real fact." These words from the coordinator of People Development, Luiza Ribeiro, define the reason for the evolution of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública in the Great Place to Work (GPTW) ranking, which awards the best organizations to work for in the country. The award took place on the 13th, at Espaço das Américas, in São Paulo, and after a survey carried out with employees of the Bahiana, the institution won the 47th place award. The manager of the Strategic Management of People and Learning (GEPAP), Telma Bastos, was the company's representative at the event and is responsible for the actions carried out in HR at the Bahiana, which focuses on dialoguing with employees.

Bahiana it was also highlighted in the “Leadership” category (5th place), which measures the efficiency of leaders in coordinating their teams and the ability to manage the resources available for effective work in the organization. The company had notoriety in the “Experienced” item, which determines the percentage of employees over 45 years of age in the institution, in which it was ranked 2nd. At the state level, the Bahiana was in 3rd place in the GPTW ranking.

The coordinator Luiza Ribeiro reported what this development of the Bahiana in the GPTW awards and how the organization has worked to promote an increasing dialogue with its employees, improving working conditions: “We moved from 70th to 47th place. It's a spectacular event, even we were surprised. But, like that, they were very surprised by the advance of almost 30 places. Absolutely, this is the result of the meticulous work that the Strategic Management of People and Learning (GEPAP) and HR are carrying out, in which they are providing an institutional dialogue and working so that, as far as possible, the demands that are appointed by our employees are accepted and attended to. ”

Regarding the use of the GPTW questionnaire in the company and the impact of employee participation, Luiza Ribeiro states how this evaluation has had a positive impact on Bahiana. “I think this strengthens a management of trust between managers and employees, because, once again, we are taking care of people, listening to them, making, within the possibilities, changes. And since this is real, people, when answering the GPTW, put more truth, more soul. We have 1.300 comments within the GPTW questionnaire and that counts for a lot. The GPTW board is very impressed to see how the Bahiana adhered to this internal assessment and how the institution actively participates. So, when you talk about something, well or not, it means that this is a living company, that dialogues and that there is space for people to express themselves and, of course, most express themselves in a positive way.”

Since 2017, the HR of Bahiana has been conducting listening workshops, in which the employee can make suggestions, make criticisms and present new ideas, so that HR, together with the leadership, can draw action plans to implement improvements in the company.
