Contemporary society is increasingly marked by diversity. In this scenario, discussing issues related to the health of the LGBTQI+ population is essential in all social environments. With a focus on providing this thematic inclusion, the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública promotes the event “Health care with the LGBTQI+ population: are you capable?”, with the objective of understanding the biopsychosocial subject inserted in health practices and applying the knowledge acquired in the various areas of health to prevention and care strategies for people inserted in different contexts. The meeting takes place on September 20, from 8:17 am to 30:XNUMX pm, at Campus Cabula.

The event is open to the external community and is aimed at students, teachers and health professionals. Entries can be made on the website of the Bahiana https://inscricoes.bahiana.edu.br/, except for teachers from Bahiana who must enroll in the Graduate Office.

National LGBT Health Policy

The National Comprehensive Health Policy for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transvestites and Transsexuals or Transgender (LGBT) was implemented in 2013 by the Ministry of Health. The LGBT Policy consists of a set of guidelines, whose operationalization requires plans containing strategies and goals Sanitary. Its implementation requires challenges and commitments from government levels, especially from state and municipal health secretariats, health councils and all areas of the Ministry of Health. This policy determines important points in the guidelines of the Unified Health System (SUS), as an example of equity, universality and integrality, as today's society is shaped by strong inequalities of gender, race or ethnicity, social class, generation and sexual orientation.

Professionals who work in the SUS have the great challenge of breaking down prejudice in relation to sexual diversity. Therefore, there is a need for solid guidance, which prepares the health area in the training of professionals who know the real need of this portion of the population, in order to provide humanized care, thus ensuring the right of any citizen to care in the health service in a dignified manner.
