Aromas, massages, yoga, dance, energy from the universe. Tools used in the process of treating physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health were offered to the community during the Week of Integrative and Complementary Practices of Bahiana, which took place on the 3rd and 4th of May, at Campi Cabula and Brotasrespectively.

The initiative, promoted by the Center for Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health (CEPICS) of the Bahiana, marked the 12 years of publication of the National Policy on Integrative and Complementary Practices in Health (PNPICS).

According to the coordinator of the event and professor of the Biomedicine course, Renata Roseghini, the purpose of CEPICS, with the action, is to sensitize professionals, professors, employees and students of the Bahiana for the importance of integrative and complementary practices. "Today they no longer have the name of alternative practices, they are integrative and complementary, as they come to complement, to use together with conventional medicine, it is not a competition. It is providing that students have contact and that they can, in the future, but to tool of these practices as therapists, knowing that, in certain situations, they can be used and that there is a practice for each situation."

Roseghini explains that at the Week of Integrative and Complementary Practices of the Bahiana, two strands of PICS were thought: individual and collective. "Here, in this space, we aim to bring individual care practices - aromatherapy, foot reflexology, auriculotherapy, acupuncture, Reiki, massage therapy and also collective integrative body practices, which make it possible to reach a greater number of people - Yoga, Qi Gong, Lian Gong, movement group in bioenergetic analysis and the Circle Dances The good thing about these practices is that they can become part of a person's daily life and promote prevention and self-care. in a health service, that is, in hospitals, clinics, health units."

She points out as benefits the improvement of sleep, body awareness, daily pains, mental attitude – emotional issues begin to dissipate. "These are practices that integrate the individual as a whole, including in the relationship with the environment that matches the proposal of Bahiana Green. They are practices anchored in nature itself.”

According to Roseghini, it is necessary to think of more permanent spaces for integrative practices within the Bahiana, among them she points out the care corridor held during freshmen week, stands at the Scientific and Cultural Exhibition, reception for freshmen in Dentistry, in addition to the PICS Moment, which takes place monthly so that people have the opportunity to get to know the PICS. "Because the speech is very beautiful, but it's by experiencing the practice that we realize that they touch us in another way. It's as if we were touched in the depths of our soul. We access places that, sometimes, we don't have contact. spirituality because it is a field that has been growing a lot in health.”

To Ligia Vilas Bôas, pedagogue of the Institutional Program for Teacher Development (PROIDD) at Bahiana, participating in an event of this nature awakens the feeling of gratitude. "Gratitude for being close to so many people who like to donate, to care, gratitude for belonging to an institution that seeks all possible paths to humanization. I think the words after experiencing care do not reach the desire that people have to give it back to humanity, because we are in need of it, love. I see it as an act of love."

Student of the 4th semester of the Dentistry course, Aline Rocha Lopes, a member of the Candeal Program's Integrative and Complementary Practices group, says that in the work developed in the community, practices such as herbal medicine, aromatherapy, Reiki, Yoga and body practices in general are addressed . She says that, in the future, in her professional life, she will use the PCIS in her office. "I think that everything is complementary, both complementary practices and traditional methods. I have always identified with less aggressive methods that promote prevention, in addition to being used in everyday life."
