Bahiana promotes another partnership with the public education system

Education for Health, Quality of Life and Entrepreneurship Program serves students from Colégio Estadual Manuel Vitorino.

Students from the Education Program for Youth and Adults at Colégio Estadual Manoel Vitorino participated in the last meeting of the 1st class of the Small Business Structuring course of the Education Program for Health, Quality of Life and Entrepreneurship, which took place last Saturday at the Brotas, from Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The program is an initiative of the Bahiana and its coordinator is the professor of the Medicine course, Eliana de Paula. The activities began in January and have been developed within the scope of the Interprofessional Health Program (Candeal Program), focusing on adolescents. With the participation of students from Bahiana, health promotion actions are developed addressing issues such as teenage pregnancy, smoking and mental health with elementary and high school students, in the morning and afternoon shifts.
 

     
In turn, the Small Business Structuring course began in April and featured three meetings with the support of an economist from Sebrae, with young people and adults working at night.

For the director of Colégio Estadual Manoel Vitorino, Maria Olívia Pereira Silva Santos, the initiative of Bahiana it promotes a better quality of life for students and a better quality of life for the community. “I see it as a growth within the state network and, within our school, it gives students the opportunity to take other courses in partnership with the university, improving their posture as citizens. It's a sensitivity of Bahiana realize that everything that is invested is to generate improvements for the community".

The student in the 3rd year of high school, Wesley Moraes Góes says that he already had the ambition of having a company in the future and that, with the course, he became even more interested. "The course is very good and will help us build something in the future. It's the first time I've seen a company come to our school offering courses. I already wanted to open my own company, and the course opened my eyes even more to have more planning and not run the risk of having to close the company as we see happening a lot nowadays".
 

     
The owner of the buffet service Maria Prestígio, buffet service, Maria Aparecida Dantas Silva, 40 years old, a student in the 3rd year of high school, says that participation in the course has helped to better organize her business. "I'm really enjoying this initiative because it's supporting us in things I had no idea about. I work from home and I had no idea how to run my business, calculate my profit, what I earn, this is very difficult. So. , being here is helping to organize me”.

Professor Eliana de Paula explains that, initially, the project chose Colégio Estadual Manoel Vitorino because it was located in the health district of Brotas and that the proposal was well received by the school administration. "This project, currently under development, basically aims to promote education for health, quality of life and entrepreneurship for students in the first and second grades of public schools. Brotas, facilitating the displacement of our students there. The idea is to develop a series of activities that range from training for the production of small businesses, through the assistance area, health promotion, development of actions and practices, and this has everything to do with the values ​​of the Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública – welcoming, social responsibility, opening the doors to exchanges. We understand that a society only develops when all parts come together for the common good. It's another winning proposal and I hope it goes on for many, many years."
