On August 23, the students of the 3rd year of Colégio Fortunato participated in another edition of Bahiana for a Day, at the Cabula Academic Unit of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

On that occasion, the students paid a visit, walking around the school, and had the opportunity to learn a little about the courses offered by the institution.

During the activity, the Morphofunctional Medicine laboratory was presented by the GCM monitors, and the students were led by the administrative supervisor of the Dental Center, Lisia Oliveira, to get to know the Dental Center at Bahiana. Also during the program, the students experimented with electrotherapy, posture assessment and palpatory anatomy with Professor Bruno Góes, together with the Academic Leagues of Hospital Physiotherapy (LAFIH) and Orthopedic and Sports Physiotherapy.

Some myths and truths about Psychology were also clarified by the Psychology professor Carolina Aguiar, in addition to first aid activities conducted by the professor of the Nursing course, Luana Bonfim, and the presentation of the Clinical Analysis Laboratory by the professor of the Biomedicine course , Sidney Sampaio, focusing on the ABO system and blood grouping. On the occasion, the students were also able to learn about the routines of the Sports Science Laboratory by the Physical Education course teacher João Franco Lima.

"I intend to do Nursing and, through this initiative of the Bahiana, a school that I admire a lot in terms of qualifications in teaching, I got to know a little more about what I'm going to face after high school”, says Beatriz Pascale, a 3rd year student at Colégio Fortunato.

For Rafaela, public relations officer at Colégio Fortunato, the activity provides students with guidance on which undergraduate course they might be interested in taking. "Sometimes, in the 3rd year, many students don't have a notion of which course to enter and the Bahiana for a Day provides an approximation with academic life through visits to the laboratories and the activities proposed by each course”.

The 6th semester student of the Physiotherapy course and member of the Academic League of Hospital Physiotherapy Bahiana, Jessica Ramos, explains that the program is an opportunity that the Bahiana offers for high school students to learn about the courses and really certify which career to pursue. “In my time, I didn't have this experience and, for the student who has the opportunity to choose and learn about several courses and what each area proposes, it is very gratifying. With this initiative, the student can guide their graduation.”

Neiana Carolina, dentist and preceptor of the Triage and Emergency Unit of the Dental Center at Bahiana reports that the Bahiana for a Day provides students with a brief experience on the various areas of health that the Bahiana offers.

“It is important to know which course we intend to take during our academic life, and having prior contact with the academic environment is relevant for the student when choosing a career”.
