Share

On August 20, at the Cabula Academic Unit, the VI Research Conference in Physiotherapy of Bahiana. The program brought together physiotherapists, academics and health professionals in order to update them in relation to topics relevant to research in physiotherapy, promoting a reflection on the topic and its social gain for the community at all levels of care.

“The Physiotherapy Research Journey is in its 6th edition and, this year, it is aimed at research in physiotherapy and social gain, aiming to discuss and reflect on what we have researched in clinical practice and the benefit of research for society , not only for a new approach, but also what we are bringing to change people's lives in society”, points out Prof. Luciana Bilitário, coordinator of the Physiotherapy course at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The opening of the event was given by the coordinator of Research and Innovation of the Bahiana, Dr. Atson Carlos de Souza, being preceded by the conference “Reflecting the social dimension in physiotherapy research”, held by the professor of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana, Dr. Elen Beatriz Pinto.

"Our proposal today was to talk about the physiotherapist as a researcher, that is, what scope do we have in doing research in the field of physiotherapy, because, at the same time as we seek to grow as professionals, we know that research is a cornerstone for this ”, explains Dr. Elen Beatriz.

Throughout the day, a roundtable was held mediated by the doctor in Medicine and Public Health and coordinator of the Course Completion Papers (TCC) of the Physiotherapy course at Bahiana, Dr. Cristiane Dias. The panel was attended by Prof. Luciana Bilitário who addressed the theme “Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy (GPFIR)”; physiotherapist Cristina Brasil, who presented the work developed by the Pelvic Floor Care Center (CAAP); Prof. Selena Márcia Dubois Mendes who gave a report on the Dynamics of the Musculoskeletal System (GPDSNME); Dr. Adriana Campos Sasaki who spoke on the topic “Motor Learning and Behavior” and Dr. Maria Luiza Veiga da Fonseca on the work being developed by the Center for Urinal Disorders in Childhood (CEDIME).

“Thinking about the training of students, future physiotherapists, we hope they can have a vision, within the academy, that allows them to know and develop a thought always directed to society. This was our initial planning for the journey, a dream we were able to fulfill. Today, in this event, we involved all the faculties in the state of Bahia that believed in our proposal”, reports Dr. Cristiane Dias.

During the program, several themes were also addressed, including: “Physiotherapy, de-hospitalization and social gain”, by Dr. Antônio Carlos Magalhães Duarte; “Research and Attention to Microcephalic Baby” by Prof. Mayana de Azevedo Bião de Souza and “Scientometrics Applied to Physiotherapy” by Dr. Katia Nunes Sá.

The journey was supported by some sponsors such as Reactive Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy, Longevitat Clinic, Aliviare Treatment and Ventilatory Support, Pulsar Rehabilitation and Well-Being Specialized Physiotherapy and the Integrated Functional Rehabilitation Center (NIRF) who brought exhibitors to the School with their stands, publicizing the work developed in the area.

“Supporting events like this is extremely important, as it is a research meeting and we have an affinity with this segment. Our objective is that the students not only enter the work area after training, but also improve themselves more and more”, explains Fernanda Xisto, esthetic nurse at the Clínica Longevitat Professional Training.

The 5th semester student of the Physiotherapy course, Mariana Pessoa, explains that participating in activities related to research is extremely important for the curriculum and for the student's professional training. “The journey is an opportunity to learn about other works and hear a little the opinion of teachers, especially now that I'm starting TCC 1. Being here is important for us to have a base that will guide our research”, he concludes.

This year, the VI Research Journey in Physiotherapy mobilized the academic community with 92 works received, 49 of which were approved for oral presentation with free themes, in addition to the effective participation of teachers and about 130 enrolled students.
