Health fair "Caring is good"

On the 30th, Bonfim was the stage for the health fair “Caring for Good”, with a program aimed at developing health promotion and prevention actions, aimed at the population of the neighborhood. The initiative also aimed to clarify doubts about HTLV, a disease that consists of a retrovirus from the same family as HIV, which infects the human T cell, a type of lymphocyte that is important for the body's defense system.

The health fair had spaces for all ages, including a women's beauty fair, which offered various services such as an activity to promote self-care, emphasis on actions to prevent breast and cervical cancer, guidance on sexual health, information about violence against women and prevention of STDs. 

At the time, playful and creative activities were also carried out for children, providing assistance and guidance to patients with hypertension and diabetes mellitus, as well as the sale of items through a Chic thrift store, whose income will be donated to the HTLVida Association. The event ended with a walk that aimed to spread more information about HTLV throughout the neighborhood.

The action was carried out by the Nursing students, under the supervision of Professor Aidê Nunes, who was very motivated by the event as it was of utmost importance for the clarification of local residents. “The Health Fair “Caring for Good” was conceived with the objective of strengthening the level of information in the community regarding HTLV. All activities carried out during the day, both in health care for women and for hypertensive and diabetic patients, the children's space and the Chique Brechó are strategies to attract the community to learn about the great cause of promotion and prevention of this disease" , scores. 

The disease is very serious and, if not caught early, can cause serious problems including paraplegia. The president of Associação HTLVida, Adejane Oliveira, declares that the fair is a very important moment to enlighten the population, in addition to offering several services for the benefit of the community. as a space for children to play, the Brechó Chique stand, where sales will be donated to our association, as well as a space for women's beauty”.

The student of the 9th semester of the Nursing course, Ticiana Cruz, bet on the work of the stands as dissemination poles. "I'm responsible for Brechó Chique, whose collection will be allocated to the HTLVida Association with the aim of strengthening the entity, because, in our nursing consultations, when we inform patients that there is an association, we realize the hope in them and we believe in this work that we are doing. developing in favor of HTLV awareness”, he emphasizes.

The action was unprecedented in the neighborhood and stirred up a lot of residents who were unaware of the HTLV, its causes and symptoms, such as the resident and nursing technician, Lúcia Maria de Souza, 52 years old. “I'm very happy for the Bahiana have this concern and initiative to promote events like this. It's very important to participate in programs that clarify issues that I didn't know about. I thought the thrift store was great and I'm doing some shopping here.”
