Physiotherapy Research Journey Evidence-Based Practical Debate
Programming gained a new format with interviews and chats

Physiotherapy students, professors, professionals and researchers gathered during the entire day of Saturday, August 31, at Campus Cabula da Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública to participate in the IX Research Journey in Physiotherapy, which this year promoted a reflection on the theme “EVIDENCE-BASED PHYSIOTHERAPY: a new way of BEING a physiotherapist”.

The program began with a ballet presentation by the Physiotherapy student and dancer Marcela Abubakir and the dancer Jean Magalhães. The opening table had as collaborators the professor and researcher Marcos Santana, president of the Conference, the coordinator of the Physiotherapy course, Dr. Luciana Bilitário, the professor and manager of the Scientific Communication Center of the Bahiana, Dr. Kátia Sá, the president of the Regional Council of Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, Gustavo Vieira and, representing the Dean of Research, Innovation and Graduate Studies Stricto Sensu, Dr. Amâncio José de Souza.

"The Physiotherapy Research Journey is our annual event and aims to strengthen research in our profession", Professor Luciana Bilitário reinforced the purpose of the event.

Regarding the choice of theme, Gustavo Vieira highlighted the Council's position in relation to evidence-based practice: "We at CREFITO have a goal of this administration, which is to increasingly encourage the practice of Evidence-Based Physiotherapy, and that begins with scientific production. We are debuting this moment in the practice of Evidence-Based Physiotherapy – in fact, health as a whole – as a way of consolidating the physiotherapy profession itself."

"Our course is very much linked to the practical part, but we know that we really need to dialogue with research and also with society. And we are society. This theme is provocative, because if physiotherapy is not evidence-based, it is based in what?", provoked the president of the event, Marcos Santana. Another differential highlighted by the professor was the format of the event, which abolished the lectures and brought the guests closer to the participants, through interviews and chats: "It may seem colloquial within the research environment, but the researcher needs to dialogue with your peers, and your role is to simplify things so you can improve people's lives."

Agenda

All meetings of the Journey were held in the form of interviews carried out by the members of the organizing committee. The first Talk Show had as guests teachers Cristiane Dias and Cristina Brasil, who reflected on the theme "After all, where did FBE come from? Past, present and future". Professors Marcos Santana, Bruno Góes and Diego Rabelo participated in the debate.

The space also received as guests, at different times, teachers Kátia Sá, Diana Miranda, Luís Correia, Elen Beatriz, Eulália Pinheiro, Abrahão Baptista, Iura Gonzalez, Bruno Montoro, Viviane Brenneisen and Alexandre Lima. The program ended with the Academic Divan “FBE in the view of young researchers – relevance, perspective and relief!”, with professor Luciana Bilitário.
