Inaugural class of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program at Bahiana

Lecture addressed the advances of challenges for the public health system.


"Academic Research in Bahia: advances and challenges for the Public Health System". This was the theme of the inaugural class of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program at Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública, delivered by the State Secretary of Health, Dr. Fábio Vilas-Boas, on the morning of February 15, at Campus Cabula.

In his speech, the public manager, who is also a physician and researcher, addressed the national policy on science, technology and innovation in health, presented thematic axes of research priorities of the Ministry of Health and explained how researchers in Bahia can count on the help the secretariat in the development of their work.

The opening table was attended by the guest speaker and the Dean of Undergraduate and Graduate Education, Prof. Maria de Lourdes de Freitas Gomes and Research and Innovation, prof. Dr. Atson Fernandes, in addition to the coordinator of the Masters and Doctoral programs in Medicine and Human Health, Prof. Dr. Ana Marice Ladeia, and the coordinator of the Masters in Health Technologies, prof. Marcos Almeida. Also present were the Dean of Extension Carolina Pedroza and the coordinator of the Professional Master's Program in Psychology, Diversity and Health Prof. Dr. Mônica Daltro.

"Bahiana it has a very strong tradition, a 67-year institution dedicated exclusively to the health area, however, in full partnership with all areas of knowledge - education, technology, innovation - because we are aware that interdisciplinarity and multidisciplinarity are what give the tone of that moment, when we discuss education in the sense of social transformations", declared Prof. Atson Fernandes.

The program also included the presentation of the master's and doctoral programs in Medicine and Human Health and master's in Health Technologies, carried out by professors Ana Marice Ladeia and Marcos Almeida, respectively.

At the end, the teachers and the secretary Fábio Vilas-Boas participated in a chat with the audience. "I'm happy to be in the Bahiana, from where great health professionals in our state come from. Many of the studies that have been conducted here at Bahiana have produced a real impact on public health in Bahia," declared the secretary.
