Workshop: Personnel Sizing at Bahiana

Share

On August 17, from 8:17 am to XNUMX:XNUMX pm, a workshop on nursing staff sizing was held at the Cabula Academic Unit. Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública.

The program brought together teachers from the supervised curricular internship, from the extension of the Cuidar do Bem Program and from the fields of practice of Bahiana, being the result of a partnership between the Regional Nursing Council of Bahia (Coren-BA) and the School's nursing course, bringing a proposal to guide the students graduating from the 7th to the 9th semester to exercise the preparation of the calculation for dimensioning of nursing staff based on current legislation, encouraging them to act critically in situations of inadequacy of nursing professionals in institutions.

According to the nursing professor, Aidê Nunes, the coordination of the course, taught by Prof. Cristiane Magali, has been reflecting together with all the professors on the importance of strengthening the student's training process in relation to the labor market. “The nursing student has a workload of 4.000 hours, in which he sees a set of theories. We have sought to reflect on the methodologies that are used and the actual preparation of these students for this confrontation. This partnership with Coren-BA is very valuable as it brings together counselors and supervisors from the council who are bringing to the nursing students at Bahiana a whole theme that, in fact, has a political nature, as we nurses do not only have an essentially technical role, but we also have a political role, and knowing the dynamics of scaling human resources for care is essential for our praxis" , explains.

“Personnel sizing is one of the 'knots' that nurses face in the labor market, which involves calculating the team needed to provide a quality service. So, this workshop brings this issue that is essential in the work environment, and nurses need to have prior and secure knowledge about this topic so that they can offer an excellent service to their patients, as well as improve the work process, avoiding both the physical and emotional overload of the team as a whole", reports the supervisor coordinator of the fields of practice and internships of the Nursing course at Bahiana, Rosicleide Freitas.

For the fiscal nurse from Coren-BA, Antônio Carlos da Silva, it is extremely important for future nursing professionals to have an idea of how they will face this reality in their professional career. "We currently have great difficulty in quantifying and qualifying our care as nursing professionals and, when we promote this type of workshop, we intend to arouse interest in the role of nurses in the hospital field, making them rethink how they will do this dimensioning calculation in which he is extremely charged, both for the practice of his work itself and for the bodies that will ask him to manage this calculation”, he reports.

“Bahiana it is already a great partner of ours and we are returning here with this workshop on staff dimensioning, a problem that afflicts nursing because it ends up affecting the quality of both the service and the professional's life, leading them to make mistakes, being punished and many sometimes, even causing him to lose his working condition. Therefore, this workshop helps to prepare future nurses to leave college with a precise view on this topic, empowering themselves with this prior knowledge”, reports the counselor of Coren-Ba and member of the Technical Chamber of Teaching and Legislation, Engrácia Figueiredo.

For Naiara Matos, student of the 7th semester of the Nursing course at Bahiana, the workshop was enriching for his professional training. “We've already seen this approach in the 7th semester and the workshop helped a lot to remember some points about the dimensioning of people, as it is a relevant subject in our profession”, he concludes.

The programming, at first, had a theoretical approach and revisions of the legislation related to the theme and, later, the students were able to experience the practice, designing the calculations within contexts related to the services where the curricular internships are being developed.
