With the announcement of the membership of Escola Bahiana de Medicina e Saúde Pública Regarding the Student Financing Fund (FIES) for Medicine, Biomedicine, Physical Education, Nursing, Dentistry, and Psychology, we have compiled the main information about the program for the 2026/1 application period on this page.

We recommend carefully reading the content and following the official FIES channels for updates, deadlines, and process steps.

1. Who can apply for FIES 2026/1?
To enroll in FIES 2026/1, the candidate must meet the following criteria:
• ENEM: To have participated in any edition of the ENEM exam from 2010 onwards.
• Minimum grade: Obtain an arithmetic mean equal to or greater than 450 points in the objective tests and a grade greater than zero in the essay.
• Income: Must have a gross monthly per capita family income of up to 3 minimum wages.
• Practice Test Taker: Not having participated in the ENEM exam as a practice test taker.

2. The accession of Bahiana Does FIES guarantee a place or funding?
No. The membership of Bahiana FIES registration does not guarantee a place on the financing program. 

3. Which courses do Bahiana Do they participate in FIES?
Medicine, Biomedicine, Physical Education, Nursing, Dentistry, and Psychology.

4. Can I use FIES for a transfer to the Bahiana?
According to FIES legislation, the transfer is related to the grade obtained in... ENEM and the cutoff score from the last FIES process. The system will only accept the transfer if the candidate obtained a score from ENEM that is within the cutoff score for the destination institution's course, according to the latest FIES process. Considering that this will be the first semester of Bahiana With the new FIES program, we don't have a course cutoff score as a reference. Therefore, it's not possible to transfer this semester. We still don't know if there will be available slots to accept transfer students through FIES for the 2026.2 semester. 

5. Can I finance 100% of the course? 
The FIES program can offer financing of up to 100%, called FIES Social. Unlike the traditional FIES program, FIES Social adheres to more rigorous criteria of social vulnerability to offer full financing. 
How does the 100% FIES (Social FIES) program work?
• Coverage: Finances up to 100% of the monthly payment.
• Target Audience: Low-income students registered in the Unified Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico).
• Income Criterion: if gross monthly per capita family income is up to half the minimum wage.

6. FIES in Bahiana Is it for freshmen or upperclassmen?
The FIES program can cover both incoming students (freshmen) and students already enrolled (returning students), according to the rules, conditions, and criteria established in the current call for applications. Bahiana It does not define the profile of the selected candidates, acting only in guiding internal procedures after the official selection.

7. In addition to enrolling in FIES, I need to participate in the selection process for... Bahiana?
No. FIES follows its own criteria and does not require participation in a specific selection process. Bahiana.

8. I already have another university degree. Can I apply for FIES?
Yes, FIES can be used by those who have already graduated, provided they meet the income and ENEM score requirements. 

9. What is "FIES Social" in 2026?
The Fies Social program is for candidates registered in the CadÚnico (Single Registry for Social Programs) who have a per capita family income of up to half the minimum wage. In 2026, 50% of the places will be reserved for this group. 

10. What documents are needed for the interview at CPSA?
After the pre-selection, you must submit documents such as:
• Identity document showing the CPF (RG, CNH, etc.) of the student and members of the family group.
• Proof of residence for both parents and student.
• Student's birth certificate.
• Proof of income (last 3 pay stubs).
• High school transcript.
• Marriage certificate and, if applicable, proof of divorce or legal separation, declaration of stable union. If widowed, death certificate of the deceased spouse (parents and/or student).
• Present your CNIS (National Social Security Information System) document, which can be printed by accessing it through this link: https://meu.inss.gov.br/#/login 
• Individual Income Tax Return (for the last two years) with all pages, including the filing receipt, for all members who file and have income. If any member is not listed as a dependent and/or is exempt from filing, they must provide proof demonstrating that their return is not in the Federal Revenue Service database: Status of Individual Income Tax Returns https://www.restituicao.receita.fazenda.gov.br/. 
• If the Income Tax return states that the occupation is Self-Employed Professional, the total gross income declared must be divided by 12 in order to obtain the average monthly gross income to be reported in the composition of the family group's income.
• For the family group member who qualifies as a partner, it is mandatory to present the Corporate Income Tax Return, the company's Articles of Association (For MEI - Certificate of Individual Microentrepreneur Status) and proof of pro-labore.
• Those who opted for Fies Social registration: present proof of CadÚnico registration.
• Any other document that the CPSA/Bahiana deem it necessary.

11. What happens if I fail subjects?
To maintain funding, it is necessary to have a passing grade of at least 75% in the courses taken. 

12. How to apply?
Registration is free at Single Portal for Access to Higher Education using the Gov.br account. 

13. What is the Waiting List?
If not pre-selected in the first round, the candidate can compete in the waiting list rounds. It is essential to monitor the system daily, as there are no individual notifications.
